"Cynthia… Zeihardt?" asked Valyr once more with a slight frown, wanting to make sure he didn't hear him wrongly. "Are you really sure she used to go by the surname Zeihardt?"

"Last time I checked, she did use to go by that surname back then." Riekan faintly nodded. "But of course, considering our current situation, she eventually changed her surname to something else."

"Roughly around a century or so ago, she married into the clan I mentioned earlier, which is the Villen Kingdom's Amerhearst Royal Clan."

"Due to the Amerhearst clan's rules, she was forced to adopt their surname after she married into the clan," continued the man, to which Valyr faintly nodded in understanding. "This is the opposite of what usually happens whenever outsiders marry into other clans, where they retain their surnames from their birth clans."

"Well, that answers the Zeihardt part," said Valyr in response. "But how did she end up in the Caemelio clan?"

"As far as I've heard, her husband from the Amerhearst clan was killed around a couple decades ago," replied Riekan, causing the young man to raise his eyebrow in curiosity. "Because of that, although she still bore the Amerhearst name, she was now free to do whatever she wanted again."

"With that, she decided to pay a visit to the Caemelio clan, only to fall in love with one of the clan members while I was gone." As these words left his mouth, his tone carried a hint of anger. "Eventually, the two of them hit it off and got married. Then, somewhere later down the line, they established the velvet faction we both know today."

"As well as the seven other factions that appeared not long after the faction's inception."

By the time Riekan was done with his explanation, Valyr closed his eyes for a bit as he briefly went over the information in his mind.

At the same time, he sent a couple of messages to Braum through the system's chat feature, requesting the latter's help in obtaining detailed background information on the person named Cynthia Amerhearst.

Even though Riekan had no reason to lie to him, considering that he was asking for his help in resolving the Caemelio clan's problem, the young man decided to err on the side of caution this time.

Especially after his interpretation of the man's request turned out to be wildly different from what the man actually intended him to do.

Surprisingly, by the time Valyr felt like he had a couple of questions to ask Riekan regarding Cynthia, Braum had sent a couple of messages to him in return, containing all of the information the man could retrieve on her.

Of course, as a well-renowned informant throughout Algerie Kingdom, it was no surprise that Braum was thorough in the information he gave to Valyr, even going so far as to include her origins as a Zeihardt clan member of another branch.

Briefly skimming through the information he received, Valyr did not take long to confirm the words Riekan told him earlier, such as her marrying into the Amerhearst clan, as well as the incident that eventually caused her to become part of the Caemelio clan.

In fact, there were even a few bits of information on the inception of the velvet faction, prompting the young man to wonder as to how the man even got his hands on such detailed information.

Though, rather than focus on that part, Valyr's attention instead lingered around the part detailing her husband's untimely death.

'There are rumors that say Cynthia's husband, Jonathan Amerhearst, died of unnatural causes,' inwardly murmured the young man, his expression that of great curiosity as he continued to read through it.

'According to the findings of the Amerhearst Royal Clan, Jonathan Amerhearst's corpse was found a few hundred kilometers away from the royal clan's estate, dumped haphazardly near a large lake.'

'Looking through the various wounds that had been inflicted on Jonathan's body before his death, the clan noticed that the wounds on his body that might have come from wild beasts were quite recent in relation to the time they discovered the body.' 'On the other hand, wounds that looked to have come from various weapons were aplenty on his body, with the age of the wounds themselves showing them that Jonathan had possibly gone through a long duration of torture before eventually succumbing to blood loss.'

'After conducting further investigation, the Amerhearst Royal Clan eventually narrowed down the number of suspects that might have tortured Jonathan Amerhearst to death were two people.'

'The first is Mikalis Amerhearst, Jonathan's younger brother. He's been deemed as a suspect due to his antagonistic relationship with Jonathan. At the same time, the clan has found it odd that his time of disappearance matched up with Jonathan's disappearance.' n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

'The second suspect is Cynthia Amerhearst, his wife.'

'She's been deemed as a suspect due to her relationship with Jonathan, as well as the similarities of the wounds that were inflicted on Jonathan's body in relation to the weapon she often uses.'

'…Further evidence concludes that the cause of Jonathan Amerhearst's death is found to be unknown?' As Valyr got to this part, the curiosity he felt quickly turned into confusion. After all, the information he just read through basically laid out who the culprit behind Jonathan Amerhearst's death could possibly be.

In the end, the young man faintly let out a sigh at the whirlwind of thoughts that now plagued his mind, thanking Braum not long after as he committed all of the information he just went through to his memory.

Returning his attention to Riekan after that, Valyr went ahead and asked him the first question that came to his mind. "You mentioned that the seven other factions only came about after the velvet faction was established."

"So, does that mean she also established the other factions after the velvet faction was created?"

"In a way, yes," replied Riekan after a bit of thinking, nodding in slight uncertainty. "From the information I gathered, she utilized the clan's rules to her advantage, rallying the support of the majority of the clan to make sure the seven other factions could be created."

"Do you know why she did that, though?" asked Valyr in response, finding it odd for someone like her to do something like that. After all, from what he just read through, Cynthia wasn't that kind of person at all.

"No clue either." Unfortunately, just like Valyr, Riekan also wasn't in the know, shrugging his shoulders in response to the question.

"But then again… would that really stop me?"
