"What did you say?" Magistrate Li was sure that she was mishearing things, however when she saw the solemn look on Yu Dong's face, she couldn't help but curse her luck. She really didn't think that Gu Mu would be daring enough to actually kidnap Yu Dong's husbands and Xian Xieren was also too much!

Just because she didn't relay the information on the woman who was behind the rice bran oil production, that woman actually sent assassins and mercenaries to ruin the entire village. The very thought gave Li Wan's headache, she wanted to question Xian Xieren, and what she was thinking when she came up with the rotten plan of killing the hen that laid golden eggs just because she was not the owner!

'Sure enough, she is not fit for the position of Empress. Not only is Princess Xieren petty and arrogant, but she is selfish to her bones,' Li Wan thought while rubbing her forehead.

However, her thoughts had little to do with Yu Dong who came to demand an answer from Li Wan.

"Because of what happened, my husbands were almost killed along with my unborn child. Magistrate Li, I agreed to help you because you promised me that these wildfires would not burn me or my husbands, this is the only reason. However you seemed to have slipped up, Magistrate Li," stated Yu Dong sternly as she sat opposite Li Wan whose face was pale and her expression distraught.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

"I understand, this was our mistake," Li Wan could only apologise as she knew that it was their negligence. The assassins were right in front of them yet they never paid any heed to them, but the thing was that Li Wan never thought that Xian Xieren would prioritize Yu Dong instead of Xian Zhenya and Xian Lei.

Who would have thought that instead of putting all her attention on the second princess and her daughter, she would actually look for Yu Dong?

"I and Sha Sha never thought that her majesty would target you when she was aware of the second princess making out alive of the attack that her majesty planned," Li Wan opened her eyes with a sigh. She then looked at Yu Dong with a frown and stated, "But in the end, this happened because of our negligence, Miss Yu.

I solemnly apologize and assure you that I will make sure that it will not happen again."

"I am afraid that an apology is not what I need nor do I need a promise," Yu Dong smiled with a cold expression which caused Li Wan to shiver as she felt a cold breeze blow past her the second Yu Dong smiled at her. "What I want is… two guards."

"Guards?" Li Wan cleared the imaginary ice that was freezing on her shoulders as she blinked her eyes and questioned, "Why do you need guards, Madam Yu?"

"Not just guards. I want shadow guards, one who is good at hiding and stealth while the other should be good at collecting intel," Yu Dong stated with a firm voice, she leaned back on the chair and then continued to speak, "I am not saying that I do not trust you or the Marquis but after this incident I think I need someone to protect my husbands and family.

Since a slip-up happened once, it can happen again. I however cannot take the risk of this happening again or else…."

"Or else?" Li Wan questioned with a gulp.

Yu Dong smiled until her eyes crinkled as she looked at Li Wan and then answered, "Or else, I will burn this entire city down."

Li Wan: "…"

The shadow guards: "…"

Her aide: "…"

For some reason, she doesn't seem to be joking.

Li Wan sighed as she nodded. Since they were the ones who were in the wrong at the beginning, they couldn't possibly ignore Yu Dong's request and in all honesty, Yu Dong was not asking too much. In fact, it was a good thing that nothing happened to her mers or else Li Wan was afraid that Yu Dong would have burned her office before the town.

"I understand," Li Wan agreed as she questioned, "Is there anything else that you want to say?"

"And the Mei restaurant," Yu Dong turned her head to the side before questioning, "It's going to be closed down right?"

Though Li Wan was surprised when she heard Yu Dong mention the Mei family restaurant she nodded and answered honestly, "Indeed. That restaurant is a place where more than thirty corpses were dug out, no one dares to claim it, even the husbands of Mei Shu refused to keep it instead they handed it to the government to be sold."

She paused and asked, "But why are you asking about it?" Li Wan then stiffened and looked at Yu Dong who was smiling like a sly fox before asking, "You want that building as compensation."

"Well my husbands did suffer from a lot of trauma and I am thinking of using that place to make something nice for my husbands," Yu Dong stated as she slowly opened her eyes as a dangerous aura oozed from her body. "Of course, you can refuse. It's just that then I may get a bit upset as my husbands had to suffer a lot for no reason."

Li Wan: "…" Isn't that a straightforward threat?

Li Wan knew that if she refused Yu Dong might really do something out of her expectations. She coughed and then said, "I will arrange for the deed of that land to be transferred to you." She hesitated and then asked, "Madam Yu, will you be paying for it?"

"What do you think?"

"I … I will arrange for the paperwork to be finished," Li Wan stated with another headache throbbing in her head. Looked like because of Xian Xieren, she had to suffer!

'I will make sure to make that woman pay for this,' swore Li Wan.
