Chapter 57: [Recycler]
Mori slowly opened his eyes again.
"Did I fall asleep, again?"
He quickly sat upright, the hard-cold floor quite uncomfortable.
Yet he felt refreshed, more than he had in a long time.
He felt too good.
He looked at his hands; they were normal.
He felt his own face massaging his cheeks, his eyes, his nose.
Nothing.
No pain at all.
"Totally healed..."
Mori looked around the room, the same one he had appeared in the first time around.
He didn't wait a moment to head toward the passageway leading to the next room, where the sleepy cat would be.
He walked normally, he was in no rush. He opened his profile again while doing so.
Receiving a 10 in magic at level 1 truly was a gift, but he couldn't make use of that gift.
Maybe if he was lucky to find an item that somehow had a magic modifier, but such an item would be so high level, the chances he'd get one soon were slim.
Some items did have level restrictions when it came to certain stats. Some even had skill or class restrictions, while rarer.
However, a weapon that scales off a certain stat was extremely rare, especially for magic.
He would most likely find staves and wands that wouldn't help him at all, as he can't use magic anyway, but he was still hopeful.
Either he needed to be lucky, or needed to find a way to inscribe or enchant weapons he was getting, so he could make them scale off his best stat.
A spear scaling in magic would make the whole process a lot easier.
As he finally arrived in the Unkindled's room, he promptly closed his profile and looked at the cat, who was seemingly asleep by the flame.
"I'm back," he said.
You cleared the first level, Mori.
"I did. It wasn't easy for someone like me."
A sovereign, you mean?
"Yes."
You're not the only sovereign in here.
"So that ice girl is also here, in the end," replied Mori.
No.
"Just to confirm, the people I was with are here as well... right? A vampire, a succubus, a half-demon?"
Only the vampire stayed. With luck, maybe you will meet her.
"How's her progress?" asked Mori.
She is going way faster than you, but it was expected.
Mori sighed in relief.
His mind had been completely focused on his own problems that he had barely thought about those three.
Since the dungeon was a solo experience, it wasn't such a bad thing that the other two left the circle, and Aura could take care of herself, he thought.
"Can you give her a message for me?" asked Mori.
Telling you she's here is the best I can do.
As it answered, something caught Mori's eye.
"Ah. The recycler."
He approached it, carefully inspecting it.
No. No. No.
"It weirds me out, when you read my thoughts like this."
You're also reading mine.
Mori was trying to figure out how it worked. His first thought was that it could turn his items into better ones, which received the first no.
His second thought was that maybe it would combine items together to make a better version, which also gathered a no.
His last thought was him dreading the idea it maybe was only a way to dispose of garbage, which could become an issue.
"So what is it for, then?" he asked.
The recycler looked like a sort of chest, an old one that was made using a darker type of wood.
The metal that held it together was heavily scratched and twisted, even rusted at some places.
The recycler lets you turn unwanted items into kindle.
Mori's eyebrows went up in amazement.
That would truly be a game changer.
Wish I had taken every torch off the walls before leaving.
He opened the chest, he couldn't see the bottom of it.
It wasn't due to the low lighting of the room which only had the cat's dancing flame in front of it, it truly had no bottom.
He didn't dare feel around inside, however. It would be a dumb way to risk his life.
"That reminds me, how is it I am completely fine, but in there I was truly messed up?" he asked while inspecting the recycler.
Beating a floor boss will heal you once you come back here.
That's a useful feature. Makes healers and potions useless, a true blessing.
Only floor bosses will heal you. If you go back to the same floor and clear different levels, you won't be healed. Would you sustain injuries now, you would be forced to go to [0-2] to heal that way again.
"So I can go back to the same floor to farm it?" he asked.
Clearing [0-1] opened [0-1-S] for you. Rules are different there, the monsters are the same level as [0-1], but yield fewer rewards and way less experience.
Most people will farm those areas before heading to the next level, to try and get a bit more equipment or experience.
"I beat that boss once. If the others are the same level, then I shouldn't have a problem clearing them."
There are no bosses on S floors. Only monsters, alone or in packs. That is also where you might encounter other people clearing the dungeon, like you.
Mori turned around quickly, his eyes fixed on the yawning cat.
How is it the most important information you keep telling me nonchalantly?!
The cat slowly closed its eyes again, ignoring Mori's thoughts.
Other players meant he could find allies, but that meant he could also be finding enemies.
"What do I gain from killing other people stuck in here like me?" he asked.
Anything in their stash or [0-0] room will go to your own stash.
Then most likely, there will be enemies. Find hidden gems at m-vl-em-pyr
"How do I come back from [0-1-S], then? If there are no bosses?"
You can comeback whenever you want, just use the [Dungeon] menu.
Mori walked toward the flame, next to the Unkindled, and sat beside it.
He looked at it, his mind drifting as he was mentally coming up with a plan to conquer this dungeon.
