Chapter 118 Chapter 89: Thunderstruck
118 Chapter 89: Thunderstruck
The dark figure turned out to be a robust young man who had miscalculated Yan Fei's strength. Eager to prove himself and somewhat reckless, he was quickly grasped by Yan Fei and lost his combat power.
Suddenly, a huge boulder fell in front of Yan Fei, creating a deep pit in the ground. A man then descended from the sky and stood atop the boulder. The man was strong and clad in black clothes, he was none other than Hideo Oogawa himself.
Hideo Oogawa let out a cold snort upon seeing his subordinate captured by Yan Fei and said, "A man more trouble than he's worth, what a disgrace to the Oogawa family."
The hostage immediately hung his head in shame, not daring to meet Hideo Oogawa's eyes. Hideo Oogawa was, in fact, using the large rocks at a distance to attack Yan Fei and drive him away from the boulder area in order to capture him. That was the reason the armed helicopter had suddenly withdrawn. Little did he know, the hostage, hungry for glory, had attempted a sneak attack, only to be taken hostage himself.
Yan Fei's face was still in makeup, appearing as a middle-aged man. He controlled his throat muscles to adjust his tone and spoke in a deep voice, "Who are you? Why are you attacking me?"
Hideo Oogawa scoffed, "You've killed the elites of our Oogawa family, and you still don't know why we want to capture you?"
Yan Fei began to stall for time, saying, "I haven't killed anyone, and I have no idea what you're talking about."
Hideo Oogawa laughed and said, "I know what you're thinking. You're definitely stalling for time, waiting for the Drone to come rescue you. But I'd advise you not to get your hopes up, because the American warships are searching for that Drone at the bottom of the sea. For all we know, they might have already picked it up."
The Drone was Yan Fei's avatar, and he was constantly aware of its situation. Though the Drone was currently facing the threat of Deepwater Bombs, it remained safe up to this moment. Hideo Oogawa was trying to shake his confidence by exaggerating the situation; little did he know that Yan Fei was much more familiar with the Drone's condition than he was, rendering this tactic completely futile.
Having used the Drone to leave his residence that evening, Yan Fei was mentally prepared for their connection to be exposed. With his disguise, people would associate the Drone with a middle-aged man, not realizing his true identity was Yan Fei from China.
Yan Fei pretended to furrow his brow, showing a hesitant expression on his face. Hideo Oogawa then said, "Release him, and I'll give you a chance to engage in a death match with me."
Yan Fei countered, "What if I don't release him?"
Hideo Oogawa made a gesture, and the armed helicopter immediately flew over, hovering above Yan Fei. The armed helicopter's 20-millimeter gun barrel aimed directly at him, ready to open fire if negotiations failed.
Hideo Oogawa said, "If you give up this chance to fight a death match with me, I won't mind having the armed helicopter take you out."
Yan Fei's mind raced, and he suddenly said, "I understand now, you want to capture me alive. Through me, you can acquire the advanced technology contained in the Drone and locate its manufacturing factory."
Hideo Oogawa smiled, "You're quite intelligent to understand our objective. So, you now have two options: one is to release the hostage and fight me. If you can kill me, you'll naturally be able to leave safely. The surrounding army and the armed helicopter won't stop you."
Yan Fei asked, "And the second option?"
Hideo Oogawa said, "The second option is for you to continue holding the hostage, and then be taken out by the armed helicopter. Without you, we can still find the Drone at the bottom of the sea and obtain its high technology. The only difference is, with the first option, you might survive, but with the latter, you're certain to die."
Yan Fei thought for a moment, then pushed the hostage back toward Hideo Oogawa.
Hideo Oogawa clapped his hands, saying, "Smart. Only the clever can live longer. But now that you've lost the hostage, aren't you afraid the helicopter will take you out right away?"
Yan Fei said, "If you kill me, you'll never unlock the Drone's secrets. The Drone is so formidable, do you think that once the Americans have it, they would share the research with you Japanese? So if you want the Drone's secrets, you can only get them through me; I am your only hope."
Hideo Oogawa was taken aback, not expecting Yan Fei to see the situation so clearly. He gave a jolt of his hand, throwing the hostage behind, and turned to say, "Everyone, stand back. I'm going to fight him to the death, and none of you are to interfere."
Yan Fei watched Hideo Oogawa approaching slowly, sensing his formidable strength. A surge of fighting will churned in his heart. The last time in Shanghai, Hideo Oogawa had burst in on a surprise attack, catching him at a moment when he had lost his combat power, forcing him to watch Hideo Oogawa swagger away. Today, he finally had the chance to confront Hideo Oogawa again. Although Hideo Oogawa was powerfully strong, Yan Fei also saw an opportunity to avenge his past humiliation.
Suddenly, Hideo Oogawa let out a strange yell and charged at Yan Fei, launching a kick. Yan Fei blocked with his hand, only to feel a massive force strike him, sending him involuntarily stepping back, retreating more than ten meters.
With that move, Yan Fei had tested Hideo Oogawa's strength and realized that he was still no match for him in terms of power. Hideo Oogawa, having landed a successful hit, charged at Yan Fei like a wild bull, creating a thunderous sound akin to a train barreling forward, his momentum immense. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Yan Fei dared not take the blow head-on and somersaulted away, jumping onto a large tree. Just as he was about to mount an attack, a chill ran down his spine. Suddenly, an anesthesia needle appeared on his back, and the liquid inside was injected into his body.
Yan Fei reached back and pulled the needle from his back. Enraged, he hurled it down the cliff beside him.
Below, Hideo Oogawa burst out laughing, saying, "Did you really think I wanted a duel with you? Foolish. I was merely tasked with distracting you; our trump card was at your back the whole time. You've already been hit by an anesthesia needle, and soon you'll lose consciousness. You won't escape the palm of my hand."
Yan Fei said, "Don't you Japanese cherish the honor of the samurai and enjoy one-on-one fights the most?"
Hideo Oogawa looked at Yan Fei with disdain, replying, "Another fool poisoned by film and TV works and novels. Why would I fight you one on one when I have the upper hand? What if you were to suddenly harness a burst of cosmic power, then I would be the one to suffer. Remember this, 'To defeat the enemy without fighting' is the best strategy in warfare."
As Yan Fei was pondering his next move, his Drone Avatar suddenly sent out a distress signal. The two escort ships had finally cornered the Drone Avatar in a narrow space, and deepwater bombs began to explode beside it, causing slight cracks in the drone's body.
The damage to the drone was also reflected in Yan Fei's body, draining his strength rapidly. Yan Fei suddenly leaped down from the tree and rushed toward Hideo Oogawa. Oogawa sidestepped, easily dodging Yan Fei, who seemed to lose his footing and charged towards the edge of the cliff. Then, Yan Fei reached into his cloak and, as if from nowhere, produced a huge cloak. He draped it over himself and prepared to jump off the cliff.
Hideo Oogawa was taken aback, not expecting Yan Fei to choose a cliff jump over capture. He took a quick step to grab Yan Fei, but Yan Fei took a leap forward and plunged down the cliff.
Hideo Oogawa was just a step behind when Yan Fei jumped. Gritting his teeth, he too leaped off the cliff.
As Yan Fei fell, he clutched the trailing cloak behind him and began controlling its angle, using it as a makeshift parachute. The cloak slowed his descent considerably.
Suddenly, the cloak was sliced open from the middle, and Hideo Oogawa descended from above, kicking Yan Fei in the process.
Yan Fei, now without the cloak's braking effect and having taken a kick from Oogawa, plummeted towards the ground rapidly. Yet, he was not panicked and instead turned over to spread out his limbs and slow his descent.
Meanwhile, Hideo Oogawa above shaped his body into a vertical line to accelerate his fall, quickly catching up with Yan Fei. He grabbed Yan Fei's leg, but Yan Fei struck out with a punch that hit Oogawa's face squarely, causing stars to burst in his vision. Enraged, Oogawa retaliated with a punch to Yan Fei's abdomen.
Yan Fei winced in pain and counterattacked, hitting Oogawa in the chest, who struck back again. In this way, the two men tore at each other in mid-air, neither giving inch.
In a brief period, they fell a considerable distance, and below was the vast sea, which was now roaring with huge waves. At this moment, Hideo Oogawa began to feel fear. He dodged Yan Fei's attacks and started to look for the terrain below. Barely discerning a large tree halfway down the mountainside, he twisted his body and aimed for that tree, intending to grab onto it.
Yan Fei had also been looking for a chance to escape. Seeing Oogawa grab the tree branch, Yan Fei suddenly reached out and clutched Oogawa tightly. The branch couldn't bear the force and snapped, sending them plummeting once again. However, with the large tree's cushioning, their descent slowed considerably.
Hideo Oogawa struggled desperately and finally kicked Yan Fei away, but he immediately felt something heavy on his body. An iron hoop with many delicate metal wires had appeared around him, a device Yan Fei had stealthily slipped on him. Oogawa sneered, prepared to break free from the hoop when at that moment, a flash of electrical light from the sky was drawn to him by the metal wires, hurtling toward him.
With a thunderous boom, Hideo Oogawa let out a scream. Lightning struck him, smoke billowed from his body, and he turned charred black, unable to move a muscle, a pitiful sight to behold.
For this trip to Japan, Yan Fei had prepared many items in the Universal Space. This iron hoop was something he'd added when he was bored, with metal wires he had wound around it. Initially, it served no particular purpose, but on this stormy night, Yan Fei had a sudden inspiration. Right after being kicked away by Oogawa, he managed to slip the hoop onto him, inadvertently leading to the lightning strike, culminating in Oogawa's tragic fate.
Yan Fei had only subconsciously put the hoop on Oogawa and hadn't anticipated the effect it would have. It was as if the heavens themselves were aiding him; just after he left Oogawa's side, the lightning was drawn to the iron hoop and thin metal wires, subjecting Oogawa to a terrible lightning strike.
