Chapter 2343 Ambush
2343 Ambush
*BANG* *BANG*
Crow is feeling the pressure a bit. It has been more than fifteen minutes since he started the fight. The opponent is not exactly the strongest one he faced. The people he defeated in the solo combat are definitely stronger than this guy.
However, Crow couldn't use his trump cards at the moment.
Sam repeatedly warned him against it. Without his trump cards, he cannot possibly overcome the difference in cultivation level. The slight advantage of speed and mobility can only get him so far. And the worm skeleton below is also getting faster.
While these two are fighting, the skeleton indeed had more targets to focus on. However, instead of gaining advantage, it only got more damaged.
However, Crow already knew that damaging the worm more is not exactly a good thing.
So, he is hoping for Sam's arrival.
All of a sudden, it seemed like the opponent lost his patience and made a move. The sword he conjured created several images and Crow felt like he was surrounded by an infinite number of swords.
No matter where he wanted to move, he felt like he would be stabbed by a sword. Even his instincts are confused a bit and are telling him to stay in place At the same time, something deep in his mind warned him against it.
He gritted his teeth and braced himself to block the impact.
The swords came in from all the directions. At that moment, the worm skeleton charged at the opponent and got in the way of the attack. Nôv(el)B\\jnn
*CRASH*
The sword crashed against the edge of the skeleton and broken it in half, the other half of the sword ray went ahead and brushed past Crow's arm.
Crow was about to fall off, when he managed to get his balance back in mid-air. Meanwhile, the skeletal worm fell back into the ground. The opponent didn't want to let this chance go and went after Crow, who is already at his top speed ready to dodge.
His arm is bleeding and his energy circulation is in disarray.
The opponent quickly gained a hold on him and was about to stab the sword. Crow suddenly stopped running and stood there with a grin. Opponent suddenly realized something, he turned around and saw that the worm is still there, just barely regenerated.
And then looked down below him.
The earth opened up and a second worm came out of it. Hitting him from below, holding him in its mouth and then dragging him back into the ground.
Crow stabilized himself and got ready to throw an attack. Just when the opponent was about to break away from the worm and come out of the ground. He got angry and wanted to attack the worm further. He raised his sword, but before he could land it…
*BOOM*
A highly intense flame came out from the ground underneath.
The young man collapsed to his knees. The worms both couldn't move anymore and started burning vigorously.
"Come on, we are done here, let's get out."
Sam appeared and called Crow who is directly above the fire.
"Glad you could make it. But you are late."
"That woman is a lot stronger than I thought and it took a bit longer than I thought to move the creature along with the soil to this exact location. I had to exhaust a lot of my energy to do it. Now, let's just go back, we need to get out of here, I feel some…"
*RUMBLE*
Sam didn't even get a chance, when all of a sudden, the sky above them tore apart.
*SWOOSH* *SWOOSH*
Several metal rods fell out of the spatial tear in an instant. They created a perfect circle, covering the fire pit, the worms, Sam and Crow.
The formation was created, sealing the space, and also increased the gravity several times. The soil became looser. As if it came back to life, it started moving around loosening with every passing second, drowning the young man who was yet to die with the fire pit.
His body was ground to nothing in that loose gravel that was once soil. Not even his bones were left. The only trace was the slight blood marks here and there that are slowly disappearing with every passing second.
Sam and Crow tried their best to resist the gravitational force. However, it felt like more than the gravitational force was at play.
Sam activated his energy vision to take a look below. Beneath the moving soil, apart from the earth element, there is also an element of space. It is actively effecting the gravity like an amplifier. However, he believed there is something else at play and he isn't wrong.
*BOOM*
All of a sudden, a tear appeared in the ground and pushed out a skeletal dog.
Sam recognized it. It is one of the creatures he encountered before. This made him frown. He thought he had a pretty good hold of the situation with the specters spread around and marking all the opponents.
Some one meticulously planned ahead and made such a move.
The dog like creature which is similar to the worm from before, used the moving soil to its advantage to attack the two of them.
Whenever they moved, their movements are effected by the fluctuating gravity, trying to pull them down.
Sam thought of his options as he observed the surroundings. The fire pit is still burning. The undead creature causing that fire pit doesn't move much and with the spatial restriction, it is also locked here.
The worms are increasing their energy. The skeletal dog is much more agile and mobile with its smaller stature and it is coming at them.
The spatial formation itself is not exactly powerful. However, his slight exhaustion from before is playing a key role in making him to think before he made a move.
Crow is also injured and he doesn't have the same level of immunity as Sam does, to the spatial force and gravity.
He could break the formation, and try to run away, but the spatial tear in the sky is still open and Sam believed he will be trapped again the moment the formation is broken.
The other party must expending a shit ton of energy to operate this and they are definitely not doing this alone.
Millions of thoughts ran through his head. He dashed to Crow's side and started using his own earth element, creating an opposite gravitational field towards the sky. Both of them moved together, trying to immobilize skeletal dog.
Meanwhile, Sam's undead energy riled up. His soul power is at an all time high as his specters moved.
He knew he missed something at the moment. Someone managed to keep an eye on Sam, while he didn't even know where this attack came from. And right now, that person is operating the spatial tear on the top while charging the formation at the same time.
The specters moved at their fastest speed, trying to sense any anomaly in his surroundings. And all of them moved to one particular area. The area that is at the exact center of Sam's current location, the location of the skeletal dogs.
He tried to sense a huge accumulation of the spatial energy.
However, he wasn't able to find that out.
This made him frown even more. Sam gritted his teeth and suddenly launched himself at the incoming skeletal dog. He caught it in a choke hold, breaking its neck and keep the head and the body separate.
He then used that skull to bash the worm that came at him with full power, leaving a large lateral crack on its surface.
Crow dealt with the other worm and Sam got a breathing space.
He activated his observation ability. He let his energy spread to the formation and also sensed the energy emitting from the spatial tear. He is running the calculations in his mind. For every passing second, how much energy is needed to operate this?
Meanwhile, at the same time, somewhere in the pocket dimension, in a dark space, three young men are sitting cross legged with several formation nodes around them.
There is a huge amount of death energy circulating towards them and it was all transferred to a special formation plate placed in the middle of them.
All three of them had deep frowns on their faces, sweat tricked down and their bodies are running out of energy with every breath they are taking in and they are filled to the brim with every exhale.
The surrounding death energy is using them as mediums before it transferred into the formation plate.
"How long is he going to endure this? He is not only neutralizing the gravitational force, he is also helping his friend stay afloat while fighting them. We need to take him down." One of them said out loud.
"But how? If we make another transference, we will risk getting our locations found out. I don't want to make the mistake of underestimating him."
"Are you sure, he can find out? The method our energy extraction and transfer makes us the most unique set of existences that he ever come across. I say that we send another creature through the tear and send another set of the formation nodes to deal with him.
It would another case if he is doing the search by himself, but he is using the specters. Their biggest disadvantage is that they cannot detect us who blended with the environment."
As the third one suggested, all of a sudden the three of them opened their eyes. A voice penetrated their ears.
"Are you sure?"
