Chapter 1393 Marks Of Your Childhood
1393 Marks Of Your Childhood
Raelle and Shui Xian went down to eat. Shui Xian was actually expecting a dazzling array of food in this huge dining room but to his surprise, there were only three dishes and one soup prepared for them. As the house help left after serving the meal, only Raelle and Shui Xian were left in the dining room. Seeing the surprise on Shui Xian's face, Raelle asked him, "What's wrong? Do you not like the taste? Uncle Eric specially asked the chef to make Chinese cuisine because he thought you wouldn't like to eat Western food. If you want, I can ask him to make something else."
"There is no need for that," replied Shui Xian hurriedly stopping her from ringing the bell to call someone. "I am actually surprised that the meal is so simple and gives the feeling of homecooked meal, comfortable and warm. Whenever we went to the Shui family's ancestral home, there was always a sumptuous feast organized even if there were only one or two people eating. I thought..."
"You are overthinking," said Raelle. "Even if this is a castle, we aren't really royalty. You know Opa and his principles. He would never allow anyone to waste food resources. He dislikes wasting food the most. So, we always follow the frugal ways. Besides, we took a long flight, even if we are hungry, how much do you think we both can consume? Why bother then?"
"True," agreed Shui Xian who also thought that his clan had quite a lot of lavish and wasteful habits. Good thing his father broke away from that group of people. He ate the simple stir-fry veggies but they were so delicious that it surprised Shui Xian.
"Eat more if you like it. The chef here has been picked up from hundreds."
"Oh?"
"I had a small appetite and Yanyan thought that I didn't like the food cooked by those chefs. Since she couldn't always cook for me, she held a grand competition to look for a personal chef for me. After rounds of tough battles, the current chef was chosen only because I ate an extra bowl of rice when he made the dishes. He can make even the simplest of dishes seem luxurious and full of flavor. I quite like the taste."
"Why not bring him with you when you moved?"
"His family is here," said Raelle. "Why would I separate his family? And their roots are here, they didn't want to leave this place, and I didn't insist either. Why would I insist on something like this?"
Shui Xian nodded in understand as Raelle would really not insist on something like this as she was truly not particular about food. She truly had a small appetite, there was a huge possibility that Raelle ended up eating that extra bowl of rice back then because she was that hungry. It was highly likely that it had little to do with the chef's skills which by the way needed no affirmation.
Shui Xian ate the meal and as Raelle said, despite being hungry, he really couldn't eat much. In the end, the portion was just enough for the two of them. He was looking at the garden outside through the huge windows that allowed natural light to pour into the dining hall and light it up. "I'll take you horse riding after we wake up," suggested Raelle.
Shui Xian glanced at her.
"What are you looking at? Don't you remember? Last time, I promised you that I'd let you meet my horse. Now is the time to keep my promise." She pointed in a certain direction saying, "The stables are over there. We can also take the horses to ride through those woods. The maple forest is the best place to wander around on a horse."
"It's surprising."
"What is?"
"That a homebody like you knows which is the best place to ride a horse."
Raelle shrugged, "I grew up here. I'd be a real failure if I didn't even know this much about this place."
"True," agreed Shui Xian as he went back to the bedroom with Raelle. "When are you giving me a tour of the whole place?"
"Then don't you know that you should not touch a man's waist? It's like provoking the man since their waist is a sensitive place."
17:31
"You really want to see the whole estate?" questioned Raelle as she changed into the nightwear and laid down with Shui Xian on the familiar bed which she had slept on for years. "Why not?"
"It's too big," was her answer. "It'll take so much time to see everything."
Shui Xian wasn't deterred by her words at all. "I still want to explore all the places that you have a mark of your childhood."
"Even I haven't made such a demand, why are you so demanding?" "What do you mean?"
"Have I ever asked you to take me to see your childhood house? I didn't!"
"It means you have not as much interest in me as I do in you."
Raelle pinched his waist making him hold her wrist with a dangerous look in his eyes, "Baby, aren't you tired?"
"Why?"
"Because I can tire you out if you have so much energy."
Raelle understood the underlying meaning of his words. She tried to push him away, "When did I say that?"
"Then don't you know that you should not touch a man's waist? It's like provoking the man since their waist is a sensitive place."
"I don't think I heard this before."
"You lived in a cave, how would you know?" he retorted. Raelle bit his chin, leaving obvious teeth marks, and was satisfied seeing that too. "I didn't live in a cave. I lived in a castle. Can't you tell? Also, it's not that I'm not interested in you as much as you are in me. It's that I have no interest in your past where I don't exist. I prefer knowing your present which belongs to both of us."
Shui Xian hugged her close saying, "But I have interest in all of you. Whether I was there or not, I still want to understand everything about you. It is meaningful to me even if it seems pointless to you. So, stop questioning my interests."
"Okay, I'll give you a tour. But if you want to know the marks of my childhood, it'll be difficult to do so."
