Chapter 512: Chapter 512 - Moonlight Barrier Cape
Chapter 512: - Moonlight Barrier Cape
[Moonlight Barrier Cape] [Grade: Unique]
[Movement Speed +10%
Intelligence +50Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Stamina +50]
[Durability: 83/100]
[Weight: 190]
[A shimmering cape woven from the magic of the Moonlight Fae. It glows with a faint green hue under the moonlight, offering both protection and grace to its wearer. The cape's ethereal fabric enhances movement and intelligence, while its mystical powers create barriers in times of need.]
Broken examined the cape he had received as a gift from Elaine. From the name alone, its identity was clear-Moonlight Barrier Cape. A Unique-grade item, no less-truly remarkable. Judging by its durability, it had been used before. Could it have been by Elaine herself?
The stats were impressive. A 10% boost to movement speed, along with bonuses to both Stamina and Intelligence. Broken felt an excitement at the extra Intelligence bonus, especially now that he needed more magic damage than before.
As for the skills, the cape came equipped with three of them.
[Moonlit Veil (Conditional Active Skill)
The wearer becomes invisible under moonlight for 90 seconds. During this time, enemies within 10 meters experience a slow debuff (movement speed reduced by 25%).
Mana: 290
Cooldown: 10 minutes]
Moonlit Veil, the skill granted the user invisibility for 90 seconds. While it wasn't his first invisibility ability, this one had an added perk-a slow debuff on enemies, making it incredibly valuable in its own right.
And that slow debuff? It wasn't a joke-25%?! Damn!
The downside, though, was that it was a conditional skill, only usable under moonlight. A bit of a drawback for such an impressive crowd control ability.
The other invisibility skill Broken had access to was Stealth Mode from his Woodland Ranger Armor, but that only made him invisible for 5 seconds. There was also Forest Camouflage from the Verdant Whisperplate, which not only granted invisibility but also boosted his evasion by 50%-again, for just 5 seconds. But the most impressive invisibility ability belonged to Pawpaw, who could turn up to three people, including himself, invisible for as long as he had enough Mana to sustain it.
Still, in situations where Pawpaw wasn't around-like now-this cape's invisibility skill would be an incredible backup.
But speaking of Pawpaw... where was he? He hadn't come back yet.
Just as Broken thought of him, the familiar figure of the cat appeared, clinging securely to Polly's back.
"Broken... Why did you call me?" Pawpaw said.
Broken smiled and reached out to pet the kitten. "Hey, having fun with the Princess?"
"Yes... she took me hunting. Not monsters... but humans!"
"Really? Is that why you didn't respond when I called you yesterday?"
"I had no Mana... sorry."
Broken was a little taken aback. Pawpaw had never apologized before. What had changed him? Was it his time with Princess Alora?
After that, Pawpaw returned to his pocket dimension, and Broken resumed reading about the cape's next skill.
[Lifewarden's Gift (Conditional Active Skill)
[Automatically restores 35% of max HP to the wearer when health drops below 30%.
Cooldown: 5 minutes]
Oh... the second skill would automatically restore Health for 35%-definitely useful. But the cooldown? Wasn't 5 minutes a bit too long?
Well, considering this cape had three skills, it was already pretty remarkable. Let's just treat this second skill as a nice little bonus.
Time to move on to the third one.
[Moonlight Dome Barrier (Active Skill)
[A dome-shaped barrier forms around the wearer, protecting up to 5 people. The barrier deflects magical damage and increases defense for all allies inside by 20%. Strengthens under the moonlight, doubling the defense bonus.
Mana: 590
Cooldown: 2 hours
Duration: 30 seconds]
Broken nodded slowly after analyzing the third skill, and this time he truly felt that this was the main highlight of the cape. It could create a barrier that deflected magic damage for 30 seconds, while also increasing defense by 20%.
He paused, reflecting on how much easier things could have been if he'd activated this skill during the attack by the faeries when he and Ivana were airborne yesterday.
"Damn," he cursed himself silently for being so careless, for not inspecting the cape's abilities sooner.
Then again, in such a frantic situation, it had been hard to think straight. Everything had happened so fast-the fall, the relentless attacks. There had barely been time to defend himself.
At least now he resolved to be more thorough. He needed to master all the skills he had access to. But that was the problem-he had too many skills to keep track of. Each piece of equipment and every weapon he owned brought with it new abilities. He was constantly acquiring powerful items, yet hadn't had the chance to fully optimize their use in battle.
Should he focus more on crafting new items and golems? Or should he prioritize honing his skills so he could better utilize everything he already had?
Even after working so hard, it didn't feel like enough. Maybe he had to push himself even harder than before. With a deep breath, Broken solidified that mindset, planting it firmly in
his mind.
After traveling on Polly's back, Broken and Elincia finally arrived at Deadbay City, a bustling seaside town. Polly quickly transformed into her smaller form and leapt into Broken's arms, where he cradled her as they made their way through the city streets.
The sight of the city in daylight stirred old memories for Broken. He had spent a lot of time here in the past, and it felt oddly comforting to return.
"My Lord Broken!" A distant shout caught their attention. Turning his head, Broken spotted three women and two men approaching-Ivana, Melliandra, and his three knights: Karl, Yann, and Anna, all dressed in casual attire.
Anna broke away from the group, running ahead with an excited, cheerful expression. She grabbed Broken's right hand, practically bouncing with joy.
"My Lord! I'm so happy to see you again... I missed you so much," she beamed.
"Hey, Anna, I see you guys are doing well too."
Elincia, standing beside him, couldn't resist a comment. "You sure are a magnet for women,
aren't you, Broken?"
"Anna, please show some decorum in front of our Lord!" Karl called out.
Anna stepped back, still grinning widely. "Ah, sorry, hehehe," she giggled, not hiding her
excitement.
"So, I see you guys are quite enjoying living in this city?"
"They almost forgot their duties, Broken," Ivana giggled in response.
"No.... Ms. Ivana..." Anna answered. "You know that we didn't get any rest after that big battle
against those monsters, right? Don't make our reputation bad in front of My Lord Broken..."
"Broken!" Melliandra said, pointing a finger at him. "I've helped you countless times. Now
let me play with Polly!"
"Melliandra. Thank you, you've done a lot for me."
"Don't talk to me, you stiff pervert!"
Broken remained silent, but he then focused his attention on Polly, who was in his arms. "Do
you want to play around, Polly?"
Polly twitched her ears, then quickly jumped out of his hand.
"Polly..." Melliandra ran towards Polly, but the small fox was already running away.
Melliandra followed her in pursuit.
Elincia gave a warm smile and said, "Alright, have a nice day, everyone." Then she added,
"I'll let you know when we are ready to discuss the Moonlight Fae." With that, she turned and
began to walk away.
Broken addressed the knights, "I'm going to meet Mr. Fokil. You guys can take a break here in
this city; there's no need to be burdened, okay?"
Anna cheered happily, "Yes! We get the day off!"
"My Lord," Karl continued, "we'll still be hunting monsters this afternoon, so it won't be a
full break."
"My Lord, thank you, but we'll remain on standby if you need us at any time," Yann said.
"It's okay, take your time. You all deserve it," Broken reassured them.
They bowed, then the three knights turned and walked away.
"I want to eat a ton of seafood..." Anna said.
"Anna, please remember you're a Knight! Show some respect for your duty," Karl added.
"But didn't our Lord say we could take the day off?"
"Hunting monsters is also a kind of day off," Karl replied firmly.
Yann chimed in, "You've gotten stronger, haven't you, Anna? Now show us how much you've
grown."
"You'll be surprised!"
Broken turned to Ivana. "Would you like to accompany me to meet Mr. Fokil, Ivana?"
A smile lit up Ivana's face as she quickly nodded. "Yes, sure..." Together, they began strolling through the lively streets of Deadbay City, side by side.
