Chapter 508: - He’d Return to Deal with them
The deafening roar of the explosion echoed across the sky as the magical spheres collided with Polly. The force of the blast threw her off balance, her wings no longer able to catch the air. They were plummeting rapidly, and nothing could stop their descent.
Ivana struggled to maintain the shield, but even with her efforts, the situation was slipping out of control. Both she and Broken reached out, trying to grab hold of Polly, but it was too late.
"Master... I'm sorry. I can't keep going," Polly groaned, her voice filled with exhaustion. Her stamina was completely depleted from the earlier battles. In a flash of fading light, Polly's body vanished, leaving Broken and Ivana suspended in midair.
They were falling fast, the wind rushing past them as they tumbled uncontrollably. The ground loomed closer with each passing second.
"Ivana!" Broken shouted desperately, lunging forward, his hand reaching out for hers. They managed to grasp each other's hands in the chaos. But they were still falling at a terrifying speed, and Broken knew the impact could be fatal for both of them.
"Can you endure the impact of this fall?!" Broken yelled.
"I can do it, Broken, I can!" Ivana shouted back.
Just as they braced for the worst, Ivana summoned her magic once again. A protective bubble formed around them, another barrier that shielded them from the air and gave them a momentary reprieve. But their troubles weren't over yet-the magical spheres were still shooting up from below, racing toward them.
As they plummeted toward the ground, the protective barrier around them flickered under the relentless assault, holding strong but weakening with each strike. The next wave of magical spheres hurtled toward them, their radiant blue and purple energy casting an eerie glow across the sky.
"What can I do? If I die here, Ivana will be left vulnerable. I can't let that happen," he thought, panic gnawing at him.
The magic spheres drew closer, faster, their light growing brighter with every passing second. Without hesitation, Broken pulled Ivana tightly against him, pressing her face to his chest. "Damn it! They're not backing down," he muttered, his voice laced with frustration.
The vibrant orbs of energy raced toward them with deadly precision, their glow intensifying as they closed in. Broken quickly summoned his strength, casting a skill from the Wavebreaker Spear.
Magic circles formed beneath them, and within moments, water spears erupted into the air, shooting upward like a fierce torrent, intercepting the incoming magic spheres.
Explosions filled the sky as the water spears collided with the orbs, detonating with blinding flashes of light and deafening booms. The sheer force of the blasts disoriented Broken, making it hard for him to see clearly. The light from the explosions flickered violently, making the battlefield a chaotic storm of brightness and sound.
But the onslaught was relentless. The faeries were clearly going all out, launching wave after wave of attacks, determined to see Broken and Ivana dead before they even touched the ground. It was a merciless barrage, designed to overwhelm them.
As another wave of magic spheres slammed into the protective barrier Ivana had conjured, a massive explosion rocked the air. The impact was so powerful it seemed to shake the very sky. The force rattled through their body, his grip on Ivana tightening as he braced for the next
wave.
Despite the strength of their defenses, the overwhelming number of attacks pushed them closer to the brink. Broken could feel the magic around them beginning to wane, and he knew they couldn't endure much longer.
"Ivana, we must hold on!" Broken shouted, tightening his grip around her as the blast reverberated through the barrier.
"Broken," she responded, "I can handle it, but I'm worried about you."
"I will revive. But I won't let anything happen to you!"
The air trembled as more magic spheres collided with the shield, each strike threatening to tear through.
As they plummeted toward the ground, Broken held onto Ivana tightly, refusing to let go. "We're going to hit the ground soon!"
"Don't worry, I'm confident my barrier will absorb most of the impact."
Broken cast every protective skill and buff he had. As they fell, he shifted his body, making sure his own would take the brunt of the impact against the ground. Ivana remained silent in his embrace.
"Damn it!" He thought, rage surging through him. "I won't let this go unpunished. Those faeries are going to pay for this!"
The relentless explosions continued, each one sending their bodies spinning and tumbling wildly through the air. It became impossible for Broken to gauge how much longer they would fall, the sheer chaos of the moment disorienting him as the blasts kept coming. Still, his arms stayed locked around Ivana, shielding her as best as he could. "We will survive, Ivana!" he shouted over the roar of the explosions.
Moments later, with a thunderous crash, they slammed into the earth. The ground beneath them trembled violently, shaking from the force of their fall. A massive cloud of dust erupted into the air, obscuring the surroundings as shards of rock and debris flew in every direction. When the dust settled, both Broken and Ivana quickly got to their feet, checking themselves for injuries.
"Ivana, are you okay?" Broken asked, relief washing over him as he realized she had survived the brutal assault. "We made it, thanks to your barrier."
"I'm just glad you're safe too, Broken," she replied with a soft smile.
"We have no time to waste," Broken said urgently. "We need to get out of this forest right away. I'm sure they're hunting us. This is their territory-it'll be hard to fight back if we don't know the terrain."
His thoughts raced back to Morel. He vividly remembered how the Knight Commander had summoned dozens, if not hundreds, of monsters to attack them a few days ago. If Morel decided to unleash another horde like that, they'd be in serious trouble-especially now, with their stamina depleted.
Ivana's stamina was clearly drained, and his own stamina bar had dropped to critical levels, flashing red. The relentless onslaught they endured in the air had taken a heavy toll on both of
them.
Still feeling the pressure of their situation, Broken gripped Ivana's wrist.
"I'll heal your wounds so we're ready to face whatever comes next."
"No, Broken. You don't need to worry about me. I have fast regeneration, and I can heal
myself."
"Really? I had no idea. You're truly incredible, Ivana."
Broken knew he had provoked the faeries by killing one of their knights. But in his mind, it
was justified.
Their strength had been drastically reduced with the loss of that knight, giving him a slightn/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
advantage.
The misunderstandings between him and the faeries weren't going to be resolved with simple
apologies. No!
Even though his affinity with them had grown to a decent level before, and despite him no longer holding a grudge against what Morel had done to him and his companions, the faeries still found reasons to doubt him. Worse, they attacked him relentlessly.
Broken tried to summon Pawpaw, but there was no response. Where is that little kitten? he
thought.
Maybe Princess Alora is pampering him, Broken mused, imagining Pawpaw lounging in luxury, doing whatever he pleased without a care for the chaos surrounding them. Or perhaps he's drained his Mana, realizing that the little kitten might have used up too much energy, leaving
him unable to answer the call.
Regardless, Broken wasn't in the mood for forgiveness. Not anymore. If the faeries kept pushing, he wouldn't hesitate to obliterate them all. But not today. His priority was Ivana. He needed to ensure her safety first, and once she was safe, then he'd return to deal with the
faeries!
