Chapter 457 – Exorcism is Easy
The world froze as the tutorial started.
In Max's hand, the tarot card glowed and a window popped up. The instruction to use the Exorcism Tool, in the form of the card, appeared.
[Wave the Tarot Card to use the Exorcism Tool.]
Following the instruction, Max moved his right hand and waved it, trying to activate the card. But the moment he did so, he failed.
There was a system prompt saying that he failed to use the tool.
"It didn't work?" He wondered, and tried again.
The card shone brightly and an energy ball materialized in the air.
Max looked at it with a satisfied smile, and a hint appeared.
[Aim and fire.]
It was clear what he had to do, so he did just that. He aimed at the wind spirit and shouted.
"Fire!"
The energy ball shook and the world moved.
At that moment, the energy ball flew toward the wind spirit. While traveling, it became bigger and bigger until it swallowed the spirit and disappeared.
The wind and rain disappeared.
Your journey continues with empire
Somehow, the tense and heavy atmosphere disappeared right after that.
Max stood in the middle of the alleyway. A notification appeared in front of him.
[Congratulations! Tutorial complete!]
[Objective: Head to the next destination.]
The guide fire appeared in front of him again, prompting him to move out of the alleyway.
— Well, so wave your tool and kill your enemies?
— The combat is so simple. I hope it changes later
— While I am a bit amazed by the effect, will the combat get better?
— I want to see Breeze jump around and wave the tool!
— Don't worry guys, that was just a tutorial! I bet Breeze will jump and fool around later!
Max also thought the combat was a bit simple for a game like this. He hoped that there would be a better one.
'Maybe each tool will give a different effect? And maybe the way to activate them isn't similar to each other?'
Because he was still in a tutorial and hadn't seen any Void Box video yet, he wasn't sure of it. However, that should be the case. The review section was filled with satisfied players. If the combat was just as easy as waving a card, the game wouldn't have a high rating.
Following the trail of blue fire, he found himself walking toward the park he saw when he first entered the game.
Many people were out on the street. They were wearing fancy clothes, a set of suits and a tall hat for men and dresses for women. In the men's hand, there was a cane to complete their fashion.
Max looked at them and nodded. Now that the strange spirit disappeared, it seemed like people were willing to walk out.
When he arrived at the park, someone was waiting for him. That someone was a man, dressed similarly to other people. However, rather than a suit, he was wearing a black overcoat that extended near his ankle.
"Good work,..."
The world froze once again as a window popped in front of Breeze.
[Choose your name!]
It was the first game since Knight's Journey that asked his name and didn't use his default one.
"Now I have high hopes for this game."
For some reason, inputting a name before playing the actual game gave him nostalgia and made him think that the developers were creating the game seriously. It was just a small matter, but that changed his perspective of the game.
"Breeze."
— Name input! Damn, the game has it!
— I never expect this good feature
— No way he doesn't use 'IamNotBreeze' and just settle on 'Breeze'
— He wasted a chance to make a meme name. Tsk tsk tsk
Everyone in the chat was focusing on the strange part, making Max groan. Even if he could, he wouldn't change his name.
"Don't mind the little details, guys." He said as he pressed OK.
"... Breeze. The low level evil wind spirit has been vanquished. The fear 'as cleared off, and peace has returned to our lovely London City."
Even the NPC's accent was thought of. Max nodded in satisfaction that the game was just as he liked it.
"Yet there's still wickedness in our fair city. We exorcists must prepare accordingly. Take this coin and procure your chosen exorcist tools from the 3rd stall at London Market. Speak to the clerk thus: 'Spirits stand beside us; fear has no place in this realm.'"
The man handed a few gold coins to Max.
"Understood." Max's character spoke by itself, he put his right hand on his left chest. "May spirit be with you."
"May spirit be with you."
[15 Gold Coins obtained!]
[New objective!]
[Objective: Buy an exorcist tool from Spirit's Friends.]
After the announcement appeared, the man melted into darkness and disappeared. Max looked at his spot for a while before turning around, finding a trail of blue fire toward a large building at the end of the street.
"Somehow, I can choose my second weapon by myself?" He said quietly as he walked down the street. He wasn't in a hurry.
Taking his time to look at the surroundings, Max also chatted with his viewers, as it had been a week since he last live streamed.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
The effect could be seen from his viewers.
[Viewers: 18,258]
While it increased from the past, he didn't even get 20K viewers. Tomorrow would probably be different if he managed to create an impact today.
Still, that didn't dampen his mood. He continued to the market and found the store he was looking for. It was a small store with an old lady as a clerk.
Stopping in front of the store, Max quietly whispered.
"Spirits stand beside us; fear has no place in this realm."
This should trigger the next quest and the lady would give him the assortment of exorcism tools. Max couldn't wait to find a strange one among the piles.
Strange was better than good. That was the rules of a streamer.
'Can I get a broom? Or a slipper? Belt is good, and so is a hanger.'
However…
"Ah?! What did you say? Speak louder!"
The lady's ears weren't that good.
